Are you Expecting???

This is a question you must never ask unless you KNOW that you KNOW the person is in fact expecting.  Why oh why do people blurt out this stupid question when they know better!

I've been asked this ever so delightful question a few times this year.  What do you want me to say "No I'm not pregnant I'm just FAT!" Now move over so I can run outta here and get a candy bar!  While I'm turning red in the face and embarrassed....it's gotta be more embarrassing for them right?  Wrong.
Point and case:  While shopping at Buy Buy Baby this weekend looking at booster seat for our (almost 3 year old) I found a few baby clothes on the clearance rack for my expectant sister in law.  I grabbed them and then I had to run to the restroom so I handed the clothes to Terence.  While I was in the restroom the sales lady asked him if I was expecting....ha ha!  He said no, but I bet she wishes she was.
Now, I know we were in a BABY store...but still.  Also, I was wearing one of the ever-so-popular Piko shirts.  Ahem....yeah I knew it would make me look preggers, but that's okay because atleast it hides my muffin top.  I'll continue to wear them because they are soft and comfy and I like them :P
Then I come out and start talking to the lady and she repeats herself AGAIN...."yeah I asked your husband if you were expecting?"  Uhhhhmmmm....and what did he say???  DUH. He said no.  So why are you asking me again.  Do you want to sell a product in your store because right now I just want to run out of here....no nerve whatsoever.  Seriously. I. Die.
My point is just don't do it.  It makes a woman who may have eaten too many Twinkies Little Debbies (because Twinkies are now extinct) feel like a piece of crap and want to lay on the floor.
Just DON'T do it.
Okay done with my rant....

I also want to enter the I Heart Faces Challenge this week!
It's so hard to choose just ONE photo...but if I must I shall try:

I know how you feel. It has happen to me more than once in the past few months. Yes, I know I am carrying my extra weight in my stomach so please don't point it out.

Here's my canned response. "No, I just eat lots of carbs. I just ate spaghetti!" They look confused, but I hope they think twice about asking again. LOL!
Seriously! I once had a service person ask me this and, no, they did not get a large tip that day.

I never ask anyone if they're pregnant unless they're obviously ready to pop! Some people have no social graces! Clearly the BBB lady is one of those people! I was in Verizon once, very shortly after my daughter was born...I'm talking maybe 2 weeks. She was with my in the stroller-obviously a newborn. Some lady asked me when I was due. For realz lady??? Uh, this is just my mom pooch from having a baby 2 weeks ago. Ya know, this baby RIGHT HERE??!?? So I get it ;)

I normally give a fake date. Seriously, the last time a woman asked me when I was due, I said, "December." Yeah, it was only a few months back. For some sick, twisted reason, I don't want the person to feel bad for having offended me, so I just go along with the whole..."You look 60 seconds shy of delivery" routine.

And this is why people should just keep their mouths shut.

Ugh. I agree. Once at a family gathering my husband's grandma told his mom that she looked pregnant. My mother-in-law is near 60. She did not need to hear that either.
Even when I know people are pregnant, I wait for them to bring it up in case they have something going on that they don't want to discuss.

When my daughter was two, my husband, her, and I were walking through Home Depot when an older couple (probably my grandparents age) stopped us and remarked about how cute our daughter was, etc., etc. She then looks at me and says "And your about to be a big sister!" Which, she was not, I was just still carrying my baby weight from her. We just stood there mouths opened and without saying anything, walked off. We got in the car and I bawled. Of course, my husband totally didn't get it and didn't understand why I was so upset. Thankfully, it was a little motivation to get back to running, something I had given up years ago. Still, it hurt and I will probably never forget it. Like you said, people need to keep their mouths shut. Even if a woman looks like she's about to give birth on aisle 9, I never ever say anything!

Yeah, I would never, ever ask someone if they were pregnant, no matter what...seriously! I wish more people would adhere to this rule of not asking :) I love that black and white photo of Connor. Adorable!

Unless actually you see a baby exiting that woman's body, that is a question that should NEVER EVER be asked. EVER! Eh hmmmmm... Sorry.

I really like the black & white of Connor. It stinks that you're little man is sick. Dieting/exercising really sucks when you're sick as well. Oh, who are we kidding? Dieting/exercising stinks no matter what. But I'm wishing you lots of success with the Biggest Loser program.

I'm doing Weight Watchers, and most of my daily points were gone by 7a.m. That's not good, but it was so sweet of my son to have an omelet waiting for me when I woke up. How could I resist??

I've only had the pleasure of this experience once. I was ordering a Virgin Pina Colada & the waitress made some comment about, yeah I missed alcoholic drinks when I was pregnant too. I just stared at her and explained that I'd be driving. She sent the manager over with a second free drink. LOL

You are so not alone! I've been asked at least four times this year, and I'm not expecting either. It is so embarrassing and heart breaking for me, because I can't get it under control! And honestly, I know that I could just say no and walk away or embarrass them, but more often than not, I just say, yes and walk away. I don't want to be embarrassed even more or have the people in line behind me snickering too!

That stinks... I understand when kids do it, but adults should definitely know better.

The pictures of your little boy are absolutely adorable!

That should just be something everyone knows not to say. unless they are like 9 months and its blaringly obvious or they are in active labor, DON"T ASSUME, people! Ugh! :) You should just look at her belly area, and say no, are you?! lol

Adults should have more sense than to ask a question like that. Idiots.
