My new best friends

I am so out of it lately....maybe EVENTUALLY I'll return to my normal self! I've been relying on these things to help with nausea. I go to bed around 8 pm every night and STILL tired...hopefully this will surpass and I'll be back to normal soon!
Sea Bands-help with nausea

Ginger Ale
Saltine Crackers

What are your tips to deal with nausea and tiredness? Anyone...anyone...???

Chew gum. Having the mint slide down helps your nose ignore other terrible smells and is actually calming.

NEVER get out of bed before having a saltine and sip of juice.

I've heard that you should eat a little something before getting out of bed..helps with the morning sickness.

As for being tired.. make sure you're getting all of your B vitamins! I carry some around with me and when I need a pick-me-up, I take some B12.

Small frequent meals... that's the best bet - the crackers are a great idea. One lady told me to make sure to never let my stomach get empty during morning sickness - so probably having a few crackers before getting out of bed in the morning would be a good idea too.

Try those bananas too - like you previously posted. :-)

oh man! i never really found anything that helped me...but it did fade off quickly after the first three/four months! my suggestion to you though (and this is foul i know) but do not drink really cold liquids because they burn coming back up...gross but fact i had to learn the hard way ;)

I am sick with each pregnancy for 16 weeks to the day. I lived on Gatorade with lots of ice in the cup. The doctor told me to drink lots of it for the electrolytes. I hope you feel better, but what a wonderful reason to be sick!

Well I obviously have never been pregnant but I do have lots of problems with low blood sugar which can lead to a lot of nausea and feeling nasty.

First, eat frequently. At least a handful of crackers or peanuts or something every few hours.

I make sure to always have a little juice or gatorade or something with sugar by my bed to drink as soon as I wake up. 5 minutes later when I get out of bed, I'm feeling much better.

Hope you start to feel better soon!!

I agree with everyone else - eat something before getting out of bed, and eat a small snack every couple hours so you don't get too hungry. Preggie Pops (found @ Babies R Us & Motherhood) really helped me with nausea but I think Jolly Ranchers work just as well really. No advice on the tiredness ... just enjoy sleeping a lot and resting a lot now in these months before the baby comes!

If you didn't already know about those sea bands, I would've mentioned them because my co-worker is 6 wks and loves hers. She feels the worst she said when she waits too long to eat so I'm with everyone else on having small, frequent meals!

I've never had a baby, so I have no advice. But I do want to say this... in the very worst moment when you are hugging the toilet and miserable, remember what a blessing this baby is!! :)

Oh no Becky- this is no fun :( I've never been pregnant, but with nausea in general usually saltines really help me. I also drink a little diet 7up, although I am sure ginger ale works the same. Praying for your and your precious little one :) XOXO

I used to nibble on saltines, too, before getting out of bed. Can't say it was the end-all-be-all, but it may have helped.

My mother used to tell me to come home from work and elevate my feet (even if I had to lay on the floor with my feet on the couch) and rest/sleep. Take the sleep while you need it, your body is going through a lot of adjustments right now.

Are you taking prenatal vitamins yet??

hmmmm i've never been pregnant but i HAVE been nauseated before... I usually deal with it by sleeping it off but i'm sure you've done a lot of resting already. praying for a smooth pregnancy for you becky!

Oh, I hope you feel better soon. I wish I had a good tip, but I really don't. After I get sick, I usually drink pedialyte.

I'll have to remember the sea-bands. I never would have thought of that.

I found your blog from Kelly's Korner and Shannon's. Congratulations! I was super sick throughout my entire pregnancy so you have all my sympathy! It is all worth it though! And I kept reminding myself it was a comforting discomfort in that as long as I had symptoms, I knew everything was ok! Even with Phenergan, I was sick sick every single day, but I did find a few things that helped some with the nausea somewhat.

Sonic slushes were a HUGE help! Especially the lemon-berry! Lemon drops were super as well! Preggie pops were mentioned- if you check out the ingredients, the lemon drops are essentially the same and a whole lot cheaper and easier to find! Oatmeal helped soothe too! And the small freguent meals is a must! Also, eat some protein at night before bed- even if it is just some cheese. Makes a huge difference in the morning! The protein bars are wonderful as well- I always, always had these with me!

I stressed out all the time because of how many times a day I got sick and worried that she was not getting all the nutrients needed, but she is a perfect, beautiful, healthy 2 year old girl! Good luck and I hope this passes soon!

Never had a baby, but whenever I feel sick, I drink hot green tea, no sugar, just plain hot green tea, it really does make me feel better.

I am 22 weeks and I have been sick the whole time, but there are a few things that help. My doctor okayed me to take one Unisom each night before bed, and when I remember to do that I never get sick the next day. Also, as others said, small frequent meals help a lot. MOST importantly for me is to never get over-hungry. I try to eat small constant snacks through the day even if I'm not hungry because once I get to the point where I FEEL hungry, I get sick within minutes, which then makes me not want to eat etc. Also, if I know I'm going to be sick I try to drink a cup of water because dry heaving is MISERABLE. Sorry if this was a lot of info, but this is what I've found to work for me.

I was sick throughout the whole first trimester and 1/2 of the second. It seemed like nothing worked. I tried everything. Good Luck!!! I hope you find something that works.

Sorry to hear about you being sick, but your doc is right as far as I've always heard. The nausea usually means that the pregnancy is more "viable" cause your hormones are all kicking in like they should. Not to say that people that don't have any sickness are going to have any problems with their babies, the sickness just means everything's moving in the right direction. I was miserable with this pregnancy from 12 wks until probably the middle of the second trimester. Definitely crackers BEFORE you get out of bed... And not too much water. If you can't stomach crackers, vanilla wafers worked for me too. And if you crave anything, unless it's really bad for you, I'd say go for it. I craved fruit a lot during my sick time, and it helped.

Not that I've been pregnant, but I do like eating saltines when I'm sick and not sick. Last time my stomach was really upset I laid in bed with a bottle of water, ginger ale, and coke. The water to hydrate, the ginger ale to get some sugar inside me, and the coke the change the taste up every so often. Hope you start feeling better

Nothing helped me but having a baby 9 mos. later!!

I was sick morning, noon and night but, hey, I got a sweet daughter and son out of the deal, so you just have to live through it!! And you will!

Hope it gets better soon for you!!

Blessings!

Mint gum and sipping extremely cold water with ice were the only things that ever seemed to help.

I am so excited for you! COngrats! I was really sick with both my girls and always found that eating before i got out of the bed in the morning would help a little. I also took zofran(a anti-nausea pill for cancer patients- was expensive but well worth it!)
good luck!!

I took Zofran and it was a miracle drug! Really, it gave me my life back! haha! Also, it has gone generic so was very inexpensive...my copay was just $10.00! Good luck~

Ginger is supposed to help alot! ginger ale, ginger snaps, ginger chews, gingerbread, etc. It helped me a little. I had a box of ginger snaps next to my bed so I could eat a few before getting up. Also after I would get sick I would make myself some warm ginger peach tea. It was so soothing to my tummy and me me feel better for alot longer! If you are feeling yucky while laying down or before bed, prop yourself up a bit so you dont lay flat and support your back and tummy with pillows. Even though your belly isnt huge yet it always made me feel better to have some light pressure or support for my tummy! Hope it helps n Good Luck!!!
