Party Planning on the Cheap

I thought I would share with you some of the party decor I've found.  I know I am severely early in planning all this, but I like to have time and pace myself, plus I enjoy having something to work on and craft with in my free time...whenever that is! ha..ha..

Most of the things I have found are in the $1 bin at craft stores.  I've shopped at Michael's, Jo Ann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, or Target.  It may not be birthday related, but it can fit into your theme if you are creative ;)
I found these owls on a stick in the $1 bin.  They were a paint on craft for kids.  Underneath it has Valentines stuff and I just painted over that with brown metallic paint.  I think I am going to wrap balloons around these and stick them in the yard along the sidewalk the day of the party.  They aren't perfect....but still cute!
This ribbon was so cute...for $2 you can't beat that!
I cut these owls freehand and I'm going to hang some and place the others around different places.  They are so cute and easy to make.  All you have to buy is paper :)
I found these little wooden trees.  Again, they were Valentine themed and had hearts all over them.  I just painted them brown.  They were $2 and I am going to hang the smaller owls in the picture above from the branches.
Little guy sitting here watching me paint
He is loving Cheerios right now.  I have been thinking of trying to start him on some regular milk soon, but not so sure about that???  I'm just nervous on how he will do.  When did ya'll start on regular milk vs breast milk/formula???

Terence and I have a lot going on this weekend and I'm so thankful for an extra day off!  Woohoo!!!  We are working the Fort Worth Stock Show for the bank.  I'm sure I'll have some pictures of us with the buffalo...he's the nicest buffalo you'll ever run across and I'm excited to see our friends Bree, Nathan, & Suzie again :)

I think you're smart to start early. I've already started for BG's in April. I don't want to be running around at the last minute looking for stuff!!

And we're not at the real milk stage, but a friend of mine breastfed and her milk started drying up around this month. She talked to her ped about starting whole milk a bit early (I don't think you typically start til about a year) because she didn't want to have to do formula for any length of time, and he gave her the green light. I'd ask your doc. I can't believe he's old enough for that! They're growing up too fast!

Crafty girl!! My favorite are the owls you made yourself!! Can't wait to see the party all put together.

Lovin' C's curls.

Becky, can I just say what a blessing it has been to me to have started praying for you since Kelly's prayer blog and watching God do a mighty work and now getting to see your sweet boy every day (well, at least online). You and Terence as parents bless me beyond measure!!

i started bday party stuff for deegan early too and it has paid off. his 1st party is this weekend and all i have left to do it make the cupcakes and pack the truck! i have been working on things since november.

i love the little owls you made from paper. i am all about making things from paper. i have tons of scissors and paper cutters so I can make anything custom. it is the cheapest way to go and the most custom! i made banners, cupcake toppers and much more just from a pack of paper that i bought at michaels for only $4 with a coupon!

I started adding a little cow milk to breast milk at about 10 1/2 months . . .tried Vitamin D first but he couldn't handle it. He would cry for 1-2 hour stretches at night, and we narrowed it down to being the milk fat. So we tried a few and are good with 1%. Now he is at the point where he can drink it plain but I often still mix 1/2 and 1/2 because I have it stored up . . .I think if he didn't want to nurse we would be done but I have a boob man ;) I LOVE the owl theme . . how cute and appropriate! It isn't too hard to find good deals on things is it? :) Can't believe the boys are so old!

I started mixing breastmilk with whole milk once a day around 11 months to see if they were going to be able to tolerate it.... just make sure when you do decide to try it that it's a weekend where you don't have to work the next day and preferably not at night cause you never know.

Adorable party deco! I love personalizing deco for parties. Just makes it unique and fun. You're very talented! I can't wait to see all the deco finished and "ready to party!!!'. What a sweet lil' niece you have. =) I wish I had one to spoil....

As for changing over to whole milk vs. breastmilk/formula. You just have to take the plunge. We changed over when lil' man was 11 months, and thankfully he didn't have any issues with being lactose intolerant or anything like that. We've been so blessed that he hasn't had any gut/digestion issues. I always offered him milk with food once he started eating solids. I hardly remember transistioning, but I do remember I was worried like you. Once you do it...it's fine. It's the fear of the unknown that gets ya'. Good luck!!! Happy Weekend!!!

Your gold tree is adorable! You could really do a lot with that and even re-use after Conner's party!!

I started the switch to whole milk around 11.5 months. I wouldn't do it any sooner unless your ped is on board.
