Today is "Show us your life" day over at Kelly's Korner. It's laundry room day and I have to say this room has gotten a LOT of use over the past year with a new baby! Our laundry room is not too exciting, but I do love having a front load washer and dryer. It works great and I would recommend it to family and friends.
Lots of STAIN REMOVER for poopy diapers! LOL!
trash and recycle bin
-OKAY-
I am needing your help with our guest bedroom. It is totally lacking in every way and I am not the best decorator at all! I know a few weeks back Kelly had a "guest bedroom" tour, but honestly I was embarrassed to post ours because there is nothing in it! So what would you do to decorate this room? I want to keep the bedding and the picture on the wall....other than that I am up for anything. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE SO APPRECIATED!!!
Also-bare entry way....what would you do to spruce this up? Any decorators out there???
Please help this decorating impaired Momma!!! Waaaahhh!!!!
My family is on their way here from AR right now and I am so excited!!!!
Hope you all have a great weekend lovelies :)

I think that the guest bedroom is screaming for some brown! I just see that working well for it. Maybe a brown blanket at the foot of the bed and a few brown/blue/white pillows mixed in with the others. As far as the entry way...its and issue in my house as well. I have a small half table pushed up against the wall with a mirror above. I have a basket on the small table for mail. I think something like this would work for you in front of the entry way to that room in the pic.
Girl you need some paint! Color works wonders for a bland room :) i agree with nicole, brown for the guest room, chocolates and that blues would be FABULOUS! A headboard would help fill the space too.
I agree with the other girls...I think it needs some paint.
The guest bedroom needs some deeper colors, brown, black, deep red, deep green. Something. I would get accent pillows of that color. Then some pictures with deeper colors. Black and white.. or whatever color. Also I would get a side table and put the lamp on it and add a vase with some pretty flowers(Fake of course).. as for the entry way I would get a table that to set against the table and top it with some christmas/winter decorations. Simple but, you need some color.! (:
I am so excited for you that your family will be visting soon! Have a ball girlie!
I think you should get one of those circle tables with legs and a glass top...from Target or Walmart for like $5.00 and throw a blue/brown (maybe with a pattern of sorts) table cloth on it...use that as a bedside table for the lamp. Maybe do some brown paint like the other girls said....and find some things you have around the house for above the closet...is that a shelf?
In the entryway I'd do a (sofa ish) table with a huge mirror above it...maybe with some candles on the table.
Those are just a few of my ideas....I love that guest bedroom...I love those huge windows!!
I love your laundry room!!
Ours isn't much of a laundry room, it's more like a multi-purpose room..one day I dream of a bright orange laundry room..sigh!
Oh..I LOVE that pic in the guest bedroom..so pretty! I'd just get a night stand, I think it looks great and simple!
That entry way is awesome..have you ever seen the tables that have a flat back that go against the wall? and then have an oval coming around the front.
Those are great for entry ways! I don't ahve an entry way..hahaah
Your home is beautiful! I love the ceilings and the floors.
For the guest room you need bed side tables. Think of the convenience of the guest - they want a night stand for a lamp, water glass etc. Then you can pretty it up with flowers, candles whatever you like! Also maybe a mirror?
For the entry, a long narrow table against the wall with a mirror above. Perfect for last minute hair fluffs before you open the door. On the table you can put a vase, or a large dish, frames, anything! A perfect spot for keys, sunglasses etc.
What do you think? Why is decorating someone else's house easier than our own? If you could see my bedroom....
I'd say add paint to both spots! Also are you using cloth diapers? I'd love to hear about them if you are!
Rooms have lots of potential, look for paints=)
Love Elle's idea for a long narrow table in the entryway. But instead of a mirror, I'd put a big canvas family picture up there. Perfect way to show people who lives here. Put a big arrangement on the table so it sits high up near the picture and a few knick knacks on the other side. Would look great!
I would definitely paint the guest room. The wall color is nice, but way too blah with the bedding and accents aren’t going to fix it.
It is a little hard to tell what color the paisley bedding is, blue or green. I would paint the walls the same color as the paisley bedding, but one shade lighter. You can just bring a pillow case to Home Depot and they’ll help you figure it out. Odds are this will mean you have to replace the drapes. I would go with white to match the bedspread. Obviously, you really need bedside tables. I think one option is to hit up your local thrift store and get two same height nightstands and paint them white. It would be kind of modern country, which I’m guessing is your style. Or if you don’t think you’re up to that, buy a pair of something like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70121230
For the hallway, I don’t think you need to paint. The color is a nice neutral. I see a runner or other long rug. It is hard to tell what the space measures, but a patterned runner would bring a lot of interest to the space. Something like this is what I see: http://www.dashandalbert.com/product/view/adobe-ticking-woven-cotton-rug--RDA008#pch_gallery_7709 For the blank wall across from the archway, a big mirror makes sense and if it is centered, it will help decorate whatever room is though the archway. Something like this: http://www.target.com/Avington-Entryway-Mirror-Dark-Tobacco/dp/B001338CM6/ref=br_1_2?ie=UTF8&id=Avington%20Entryway%20Mirror%20Dark%20Tobacco&node=404342011&searchSize=30&searchView=list&searchPage=1&sr=1-2&qid=1290462070&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Cmaterial_type%2Cfinish_types-bin%2Citem_shape%2Cprice&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
I’m not sure if it is just the photos, but it seems like you hang your art really high. The general rule of thumb is to hang you art so that it is eye level for someone around 5’9”. Yours looks like it is eye level for someone who is 6’1”. Maybe that was intentional because you have high ceilings, but with just a few pieces of art, it makes the space look much more empty. I would move things down, it will highlight what you have better. The wall with the painting in the guest room cries out for art. What you have now will be hard to match. I would probably move it to the wall you first see when you open the door (bonus since you seem to love it: you would be able to see the painting whenever you walked by the room). I think a print set would be the easiest thing to use on that big wall since you’re not into decorating. For something traditional: http://www.etsy.com/listing/61932012/blowing-away-set-of-3-8-x-10-glossy?ref=sr_gallery_18&ga_search_query=print+set&ga_search_type=&ga_page=9&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade&filter%5B1%5D=art for something for graphic and modern http://www.etsy.com/listing/62143877/love-duo-set-of-two-8-x-10-prints-all Either way, 8x10 prints can be framed cheaply with a mat to be 11 x 14, filling up that way with something interesting.
Well, this is long. Hope it was helpful!
I would get rid of the very heavy bedspread!
Nice space, potentials is in the air you can start out in experimenting with design that will fit you.

I'm stopping by for a visit from Kelly's Korner today.
You have a wonderful entryway into your home.
Congrats on your little one. I had no idea people were still using cloth diapers?! When my son was born, 20 yrs ago, I considered it but since I had him in daycare it was disposable.
I'm at a lost on where to start, in your guest bedroom. Maybe an inspiration piece?
I really enjoyed my visit to your blog. Have a wonderful week.
